Health and well-being coaching keeps growing, and so do the ways to practice it. What this panel takes on is the next question: how coaches build a career that lasts.
"What does it really take for coaches to cultivate a sustainable and successful career in a continually evolving profession?"
The Health and Well-Being Coaching Conference session description
What a sustainable coaching career actually requires
The session, From Passion to Profession, is built around three questions rather than a presentation: what the pathways actually are, which skills hold up across a career instead of just getting someone hired, and where the profession is heading, including the parts that are getting harder.
Coaching now runs through hospitals, health plans, employers, private practice, and platform companies. Those paths ask for different things.
For the people running coaching teams, the same question arrives as a staffing problem. We looked at why health coaches leave, and how to keep them, and almost none of it turned out to be about the coaching itself.
Why Brittany is on this panel
Brittany was one of the very first Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coaches in the country, certified through the University of Delaware's graduate program when the credential was still new.
Her own path covers most of the ground the panel is there to describe. Sports medicine first, then prevention and chronic disease. As a health promotion specialist she worked across diabetes lifestyle coaching, mental health initiatives, and laughter therapy programs. She has helped stand up coaching programs inside large hospital systems, covering cardiometabolic, pulmonary, bariatric, and physical therapy populations. She has spoken on health coaching for the American Diabetes Association, Rutgers University, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the National Wellness Conference.
How to attend
The conference runs September 25 to 27, 2026. Brittany's panel is Saturday, September 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PDT, alongside Noel Chan, Elyse Wagner and Susan Whitman, moderated by Tasha Edwards. It is approved for 24 NBHWC continuing education credits, and sessions stay available on demand for 60 days.
Avidon Health builds the health coaching platform behind care and coaching teams, pairing behavior change science with the tools coaches work in every day.
